Introduction to rubber fender
2024-04-13

rubber fender (rubber fender), also known as rubber fender, is installed on the dock or ship to absorb the collision energy between the ship and the dock or ship during docking or mooring, to protect the ship and the dock from damage

Usually rubber fender can be divided into two categories according to the structure: solid rubber fender (non-floating type) and floating rubber fender. Solid rubber fender (non-floating type) is a kind of anti-collision equipment for wharf ships which has been used earlier and widely. According to the force of rubber fender, it can be divided into shear type, rotation type and compression type. According to the structure of the fender, the solid rubber fender can be divided into D type, cone type, drum type, fan type, rectangular, cylindrical fender and so on.

Floating rubber fender can float freely on the surface of the water, according to its internal buffer medium can be divided into: inflatable rubber fender, filled rubber fender.

The inflatable rubber fender uses compressed air as the medium and consumes the collision energy by doing the work of compressed air.

Foam-filled fender is also known as solid polyurethane fender, the internal buffer medium is mainly closed cell foam materials, such as foam EVA, foam polyurethane and foam rubber and so on

Solid rubber fender has high energy absorption and reaction, and has the advantages of low cost, long service life, simple installation and maintenance, etc. It is the most installed protective device in docks and shipyards.

Floating rubber fender is a new type of fender equipment. Compared with solid rubber fender, its main characteristics are: large compression deformation, large energy absorption, small reaction force, self-floating, easy installation and so on. Usually used in ship to ship, ship to wharf (ship to ship) cargo, docking and other occasions; Due to its self-floating characteristics, it is also particularly suitable for installation in wharves with large changes in tide level. The filled rubber fender is especially suitable for applications in harsh environments, such as offshore drilling platforms, due to its maintenance-free and long life.

Standard

The industry standards adopted by the solid rubber fender are "HG/T 2866-2016 rubber fender" and "GB/T 21537-2008 conical rubber fender".

The domestic industry standard for inflatable rubber fenders is "CB-T 3948 Marine inflatable rubber ball" and the international ISO standard ISO17357:2002 "High pressure Floating pneumatic rubber fenders". Filled floating rubber fender is a new product, there is no international standard and industry standard.
